COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland kept Saint Joseph's at bay with 20-point performances from Anjale Barrett and Diandra Tchatchouang. The Terrapins closed their non-conference portion of the season by defeating the Hawks 79-69 and extending their home court winning streak to 47.

The Hawks grabbed their only lead at the start of the game with a three-pointer by Dominique Bryant but the Terrapins were in the middle of a 13-3 run and held SJU without another basket for the next six minutes. As Maryland jumped to a 10-point lead, the Hawks called timeout.

Tchatchouang led the Terps after the first 20 minutes with 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting and a three blocks. The La Courneuve, France, native finished with a career-high 25 points and six rebounds. Joining Tchatchouang at the 20-point mark was Barrett whose 20 points were a career best.

Saint Joseph's struggled against the Maryland defense shooting 1-for-13 in the first six minutes of play and getting just their second field goal with 13:12 on the clock. The Terps came within one of their season-high in blocks with six, five of which came from Tchatchouang, a career-high.

The Terps had a comfortable 36-24 lead at halftime but the Hawks came out strong in the second half and cut the lead down to three. A 9-1 run by St. Joseph's, including two back-to-back three's, took SJU within striking distance at 57-54. Maryland regrouped and answered with six straight points of its own and regained their double-digit lead to finish by 10.

Senior Lori Bjork ended the game with 11 points. Maryland is now 11-1 when three or more players record double-figure points. Sophomore Lynetta Kizer was a presence for the Terps under the basket pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds and was just shy of a double-double with eight points.

The Maryland squad was unselfish today as six players dished out at least one assist. Freshman point guard Dara Taylor led with eight and only three turnovers.

The Terrapins open conference action with a pair of road games. Maryland faces N.C. State first on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. The Terps then head to Virginia for a Monday night game at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 11.
