Team Records and Series Notes

        Maryland improves to 12-2, while Saint Joseph’s falls to 6-8.

        The Terps own the all-time record over the Hawks 8-3. Maryland has not lost to Saint Joseph’s since losing three straight from 1976-1978. It’s last win over the Hawks was Dec. 29, 1991.

        Maryland extended their program-record home court winning streak to 47 wins. The last time Maryland dropped a game at home was Feb. 18, 2007 to Duke, 68-57.

        Maryland begins ACC play on Thursday, Jan. 7 at N.C. State at 7 p.m. ET.  

 

Team Game Notes

        Line-up: Dara Taylor, Lynetta Kizer, Tianna Hawkins, Lori Bjork, Diandra Tchatchouang. This is the first time Maryland used this lineup.

        Key run:  With 6:14 left in the game, the Hawks closed the Terrapins’ lead to just four, 63-59. Freshman forward Tianna Hawkins then made two free throws to open up a 10-3 run to go ahead 73-62.

        Three Terrapins scored in double-digits in Sunday’s win. Diandra Tchatchouang scored 25, Anjale Barrett scored 20 and Lori Bjork scored 11. This is the tenth game this year three or more Terps broke the double-digit point mark in a game.

        The Terrapins held the Hawks to just 1-for-13 from the floor in the first six minutes of the game, which gave them a shooting percentage for that time of .077. The Hawks made their second field goal of the game at the 13:12 mark in the first half.

        Maryland won the battle on the boards, 51-38, and has out-rebounded their opponent in all games except one (at Mississippi State, 42-41).

 

 

Individual Game Notes

        Sophomore guard Anjale Barrett scored a career-high 20 points in her 31 minutes off the bench. She was 7-for-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from outside the arc, as well as 4-for-7 from the foul line. She grabbed five boards and dished two assists.

        Freshman forward Diandra Tchatchouang has scored in double-digits in 12 of the Terps’ 14 games this year games this season, including the last nine games. She scored a career-high 25 points tonight on 9-of-15 shooting and was 5-for-10 from the charity stripe. She made 2-of-3 threes and grabbed six boards as well. She also had a career-high five blocked shots.

        Senior guard Lori Bjork had 11 points in the matchup, with nine coming in the first half. She made 2-of-5 three pointers and 3-of-4 foul shots.  She had three assists.

        Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer grabbed ten rebounds in Sunday’s game and scored eight points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field.
