Team Records and Series Notes


  • Maryland improves to 9-1 while UMBC falls to 4-6. The Terps lead the all-time series over the Retrievers, 10-0.
  • Maryland will take a short break before continuing its out-of-conference schedule, traveling to Delaware State December 19 at 4 P.M. ET. Team Game Notes

  • Line-up: Alyssa Thomas, Diandra Tchatchouang, Tianna Hawkins, Anjale Barrett and Lynetta Kizer. This lineup improves to 1-0.
  • Three Terps finished in double figures. Sophomore Tianna Hawkins led the way with 16, followed by junior Anjale Barrett with 12, and freshman Alyssa Thomas with 10.
  • The Terps outrebounded the Retrievers 33-20. Maryland has controlled the boards in all nine games this season.
  • Maryland's 12 turnovers are a season low. The Terps forced 19 turnovers off of UMBC and recorded eight steals to the Retrievers' three.
  • The Terrapins dished out 21 assists, tied for a team high this season.
  • Maryland got off to a 15-0 start before the Retrievers hit a pair of free throws just over six and a half minutes in to the game. Staunch defense helped the Terps hold UMBC without a field goal until the 11:43 mark of the first half.

    Individual Game Notes

  • Sophomore Tianna Hawkins easily surpassed the 400 career point mark with 16 points to lead the team. She added five rebounds as well.
  • Freshman Alyssa Thomas scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Thomas has started all but one game this season for the Terps, and has scored in double digits in eight of her nine games.
  • Junior captain Lynetta Kizer recorded two rebounds, giving her 601 for her career.
