COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - The No. 13 Maryland women's basketball team fell to ACC opponent Boston College 78-69 Thursday night. The Terrapins were led by junior Lynetta Kizer and freshman Alyssa Thomas who both notched double-doubles on the night.

Kizer had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Thomas added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Terps (13-3, 0-2). It was Kizer's 13th game in double figures this year. Her 22 points was one shy of her career high. Thomas notched her second straight double-double.

Maryland went 28 for 85 from the floor, including 1 for 20 from 3-point range, and sank only 12 of 28 free throws.

The Terps held a 35-27 led at the break. The Eagles (14-3, 1-1 ACC) opened the second half with an 18-2 run and held on for the win.

The Terrapins had a season-low 11 turnovers compared to 22 for the Eagles and finished with a 53-45 rebounding advantage. The Terps have held the rebounding advantage in 14 of 16 games this year.

After trailing for much of the opening 20 minutes, Boston College used its decisive second-half run to go up 45-37. Stephanie Murphy scored six points and Kerri Shields chipped in with a pair of 3-pointers.

It was 55-47 before Maryland's Alicia DeVaughn hit a jumper and Kim Rodgers sank the Terrapins' only 3-pointer of the game. Thomas then hit a jumper, but a minute later she missed two free throws that would have given Maryland the lead.

Soon after that, Maryland forward Diandra Tchatchouang misfired on the front end of a 1-and-1. Swords then made two free throws on the opposite end to make it 59-54 with 5:18 left.

The Terps dished 17 assists and Anjale Barrett led with six. Maryland also nabbed 12 steals, as sophomore Dara Taylor and Tchatchouang each grabbed three.

Maryland will head to Clemson this weekend. The Terps and the Tigers are set to tip off at 3 p.m. Sunday. Live stats will be available.
