Head Coach Brenda Frese

Opening Statement:
"[It was a] tough loss, a very disappointing loss. Obviously all the credit goes to [Boston College], I thought they came in here and out-worked us, out-toughed us, just played with a tremendous sense of pride and confidence and were able to get a gritty road win. [It's] obviously disappointing from our end, I'm not sure what we did well in this game, from an offensive end or a defensive end, and picked a tough night for everyone to have a bad night in ACC play. We've got to be able to regroup and learn from this. The ACC isn't kind. You've got to be able to turn around and be ready for your next game."

On how much of the loss could be blamed on self-infliction:
"[It's] Very disappointing, because that's an area as coaches that we've been focused on. We've been repping a lot more free throws. We know that's what a lot of games come down to at this stage of the game. It is a basic fundamental shot and for us to step up and not shoot the ball with confidence is very disappointing. But, again, those are all things in our control."

On Boston College's surge in scoring in the second half:
"The run out of the locker room with them scoring the first seven points and their the 18-2 run to start the half, that's a backbone killer. I think a lot of that had to do with us defensively and obviously they were confident. I remember [Carolyn] Swords stepping out and hitting that shot to get them momentum early and they played like a veteran team, and we played like a very young team tonight. "

On the level of concern going 0-2 in ACC play before playing two straight games on the road:
"Well I think it defines your character. Now you're talking about two road games, and we're going to see what kind of character we have in this locker room. Every game is going to be a battle. We put ourselves in this position and now we have to be able to dig ourselves out of it."

Senior Center Lynetta Kizer

On if she had ever been part of a game where her team dominated the stat sheet, but didn't win:

"I can say I haven't. It's just a lack of focus on our end, something that we have to get back to and practice tomorrow, and do a better job concentrating and finishing. Once we start finishing plays, I think we'll be fine. We really need to focus on putting the ball in the basket. It was tough today."

On what led to Boston College's scoring surge in the second half:
"Our communication on the defensive end, that's something we really have to buckle down on and get back to. Everyone has to help each other out and just communicate and play more Maryland basketball. That's something we need to pride ourselves on."

 Freshmen Guard Alyssa Thomas

On if the team almost expects to miss when shooting free throws during a game like tonight:
"I don't think we expect to miss. I think, again, it was a lack of focus. We practice free throws all the time. We were just not hitting them tonight."

Boston College Head Coach Sylvia Crawley

Opening Statement:
"Something that we talked about at halftime was that we didn't have a chance to win this game if we didn't box out and get the rebounds.  I thought our team did a better job in the second half.  We still gave up 31 offensive rebounds and it's something we have to work on, but I was very proud of our players and how they fought.  It was a very tough environment to play in because they had a lot of fans here tonight, but I thought we stuck together and pulled out a win.  I challenged our seniors today.  They have never won in this building.   I am happy for them because they get the chance to leave a legacy at BC and this is something that I really wanted for them tonight."

On what was said at halftime:
"It was very simple.  We had to box out and come up with the rebound and get the ball inside.  Our two close players only got one touch at half time. So we ran a lot of plays to get them more touches and we just focused on boxing out better.  It was very simple at halftime.  I just had them talk to me.  I asked, 'What do we needed to tighten up on?' They said boxing out and rebounds. They knew what we needed to do it was just a matter of coming out and doing it."

On exploting Maryland's defense in the second half:
"I thought it was a collective effort tonight.  We had some big minutes from some of our younger players.  We got into some foul trouble and had to throw in some of our younger players like Korina Chapman, Katie Zenevitch, and Tiffany.  They were able to be thrown them into the game.  I thought they made some big plays and I thought they came up with some big rebounds.  I thought everyone contributed tonight as far as scoring.  Everyone was a threat.  Everyone made the extra pass when it was time to do that and everyone scored when it was time to score.  We didn't struggle scoring wise in the first half, it was a matter of rebounding.  Our defense was pretty good on the first possession.  At half time I think they had 15 offensive rebounds, 15 points off of second chance points and nine points off of our turnovers, so we knew that we had to take care of the ball and that we had to box out and that was the majority of the points. So that was our focus at halftime."
