COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Vlad Stefan has been voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week, along with North Carolina's Jose Hernandez, the league announced Tuesday.
Stefan, who went a combined 4-0 over the weekend, is the first Maryland men's tennis player to earn Player of the Week honors since Haris Causevic earned the award April 8, 2002.
Stefan upset 26th-ranked Chris Mengel of Duke in straight sets Friday, and closed the weekend with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 defeat of 103rd-ranked Brennan Boyajian of North Carolina on Sunday.
