Terrapins Head to U23 World Team Trials
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Ten members of the Maryland wrestling team will be traveling to Akron, Ohio, this weekend to participate in the U23 World Team Trials from June 1-3. Winners of each weight class earn a spot on Team USA for the U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania (Nov. 12-18).
The following Maryland wrestlers will be competing this weekend:
- Danny Bertoni (65 KG)
- Peter Tedesco (70 KG)
- Alfred Bannister (70 KG)
- Jahi Jones (74 KG)
- Idris White (74 KG)
- Josh Ugalde (79 KG)
- Kyle Cochran (79 KG)
- David-Brian Whisler (97 KG)
- Mansur Abdul-Malik (125 KG)
- Youssif Hemida (125 KG)
The event will follow a tournament-style format, with the final round of each weight class being best-of-three. The full schedule for the weekend can be found below.
Friday, June 1
10 a.m. – Session I (U23 GR prelims through quarterfinals)
4 p.m. – Session II (U23 GR semifinals through ALL medal matches, including best-of-three finals)
Saturday, June 2
9:30 a.m. – Session III (U23 FS prelims)
4 p.m. – Session IV (U23 FS quarterfinals)
Sunday, June 3
9:30 a.m. – Session V (U23 FS semifinals through ALL medal matches, including best-of-three finals).
Flowrestling will provide live brackets and video streaming.
