As a Sophomore (2021): Made 16 appearances out of the bullpen as Maryland’s closer … led the team and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with seven saves … ranked second on the team in batting average against (.217) … tossed two innings allowing just two hits in his season debut against Michigan State (3/6) … threw a scoreless frame against Rutgers (3/12) … retired the only batter he faced against Rutgers (3/14) … earned his first save of the season at Penn State (3/20) … tossed two and two thirds innings and took the loss against Iowa (3/27) … tossed a perfect frame and earned the save against Northwestern (4/2) … earned a three-inning save against #25 Michigan, tossing a season-high three and two thirds innings (4/5) … earned the save at Nebraska (4/10) … appeared against Ohio State (4/17) … got the save at Iowa (4/24) … retired the only batter he faced against Minnesota (4/30) … used three pitches to retire the Minnesota side in order and earn the save (5/2) … got the save at Illinois (5/8) … appeared at #24 Michigan (5/21) … tossed an inning and two thirds of one-hit relief against Indiana (5/30) … threw a pair of innings in the NCAA Tournament against #12 East Carolina (6/6)
As a Freshman (2020): Made relief appearances in four games of the shortened season...Led the team with a .091 batting average against...Was dominant in his collegiate debut vs. Charleston Southern, tossing 3 2/3 innings of one-hit ball while striking out 7 to earn the save (2/14)...threw 1 2/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowed a run vs. Rhode Island (2/21)...tossed a perfect inning of relief vs. Bryant (3/8)...struck out the only batter he faced vs. James Madison (3/11)
Before Maryland: Attended Iona Prep in New Rochelle, New York... was named 2019 Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Player Of The Year, CHSAA All League First Team, and Lohud Sports First Team during his high school career... complied an 8-2 record on the mound in 51.1 IP with 98K, 5BB, and a 0.81 ERA... helped lead the Gaels to a state semifinal appearance
Personal: Son of Robert and Bonnie Bello... chose Maryland because of because of its great facilities and the opportunities that the coaches presented to him.... enjoys golfing on his days off... also recruited by JMU, St.Johns, South Carolina, and Boston College
