Darryl Conway was hired by the University of Maryland as the Assistant Athletic Director- Sports Medicine in June 2004 from the University of Central Florida. As the Assistant Athletic Director- Sports Medicine, Conway oversees the day-to-day operation of the Terps Sports Medicine Department, including supervising a staff of sixteen (16) Certified Athletic Trainers and eight (8) Team Physicians, coordinating sports medicine services for Maryland's 27 athletic teams and 700 student-athletes, and clinically working directly with the Terps nationally-regarded football program. Conway came to the University of Maryland from the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he served as the Head Athletic Trainer, Head Football Athletic Trainer, and Adjunct Professor and Clinical Instructor in UCF's nationally recognized Athletic Training Education Program from 2001 to 2004. Conway has also worked at the University of Northern Iowa, where he serviced as Director of Sports Medicine, Adjunct Instructor, and Clinical Instructor from 1999 to 2001; Morgan State University, where he served as Director of Sports Medicine from 1998 to 1999; the University of Delaware, where he served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Assistant Professor from 1996 to 1998; and the New York Jets Football Club, where he worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer from 1993 to 1996.

Conway received his Masters of Arts in Sports Management and Sports Medicine from Adelphi University in 1995 and a Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education Studies and Athletic Training from the University of Delaware in 1993. During his time at the University of Delaware, he worked with Delaware's nationally ranked football, men's basketball, and baseball teams. He also worked as a summer intern with the New York Jets Football Team for three summers.

Conway has taught numerous collegiate courses related to athletic training, has co-authored several scholarly publications and book chapters, and is a frequently lecturer across the country on various sports medicine and administrative topics. He has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) since 1989, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation.

In addition to being a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Conway is also a State of Maryland Certified Emergency Medical Technician and a CPR and AED instructor with the American Red Cross. Conway volunteers his time as an Athletic Trainer / Tactical Medic with the City of Laurel Police Department Emergency Response / SWAT Team, and as an EMT with the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Conway and his wife Tracy, a records and property coordinator for the City of Laurel, MD Police Department, are the proud parents of Michael Eugene Conway, and reside in Laurel, MD.
