
Four Terps Receive IWLCA Women’s All-American Honors

College Park, MD -- Four members of the No. 3 Maryland women's lacrosse team earned IWLCA All-American honors, the organization announced Thursday. The honorees were Kori Edmondson, Lauren LaPointe, JJ Suriano, and Maddy Sterling.
Edmondson earned First Team All-American honors from IWLCA Lacrosse for the second consecutive season. The senior also received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for the second straight year. Edmondson has made an impact across the field, ranking third on the team with 61 points on 48 goals and 13 assists while placing second with 71 draw controls. She earned a spot as a Tewaaraton Top-25 finalist and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. Edmondson was selected fourth overall in the first round of the professional draft by the New York Charging. She will conclude her career in College Park as one of the most decorated players in program history. The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, Edmondson chose to stay home and developed into one of the premier players to wear a Maryland uniform. She is currently 26th all-time in program history with 219 career points.
LaPointe earned IWLCA Second Team honors for the first time in her career. The junior received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition following an outstanding season leading the Terrapins' offense. She leads the team with 89 points and 64 goals, doubling her goal total from last season. LaPointe was named both IWLCA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and earned Midseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. Against No. 7 Johns Hopkins, she delivered a career-best performance with seven goals and 10 points in a 15–12 road victory. She has recorded four or more points in 15 of 20 games this season.
Sterling earned Third Team IWLCA All-American honors for the first time in her career. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, she leads the team with 16 caused turnovers and ranks third with 24 groundballs. Sterling has consistently matched up against and limited some of the nation's top offensive players. She earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. In the Big Ten Championship against Northwestern, Sterling held Big Ten leading scorer Madison Taylor to just one goal, her fewest in a game this season. Sterling was selected in the third round with the 11th overall pick by the Maryland Charm.
Maryland earned a 14–10 win against Navy in the NCAA Quarterfinals in College Park. Hat tricks from Keeley Block and Lauren LaPointe helped push Maryland to its 29th Final Four appearance in program history. Maryland scored the final five goals of the game and had six different players record multi-point performances.
The Terps will head to Chicago to face No. 2 North Carolina on May 22 in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
Suriano and Edmondson earned First Team honors, while LaPointe was named to the Second Team and Sterling received Third Team recognition.
