BEFORE MARYLAND - Earned honorable mention all-state in the long jump while at La Plata High School... team won indoor state title and was conference champions... served as captain his senior year... conference champion in the long jump... all-county and All-SMAC honoree in both long jump and hurdles.

PERSONAL - Parents are Carolyn and Renny Barnes... plans to major in mechanical engineering... lists playing guitar and cars as his hobbies... Jonathan Edwards is his favorite athlete.
