Approaching nearly two decades as a coach, Danielle Siebert continues to offer support to Maryland track and field athletes. As a mentor and coach, Siebert has provided a positive influence on the track and field program as a whole and each student-athlete as an individual.
She helped guide Alexandra Lucki (’19) to four NCAA appearances. Lucki qualified for her first NCAA Championship event during the 2016 outdoor season in the 1500 meter run, following this up with a return trip in 2017 running 4:18.87. Lucki improved her personal best further in 2019 running 4:18.62 en route to the NCAA finals in Austin, TX.  In 2019 Lucki also broke the school record in the 5000m run posting a time of 16:20.01. She earned an NCAA Cross Country appearance as an individual qualifier in 2017 and received All-Big Ten honors after finishing 12 th in the conference championships.

Christine Laurie (’22) capped off a stellar career in the 1500m to earn a place in the record books running 4:23.27. 2017 graduate, Catherine Voelpel set the school record in the 600m placing fifth at the Big Ten championships in 1:30.04. Voelpel is also 6 th all time in the 800m run at 2:09.25. The Distance Medley Relay squad has achieved seven of the top eight times during Siebert’s tenure. The top two outdoor marks were achieved at the 2017 and 2019 Penn Relays Championship of America. The indoor school record was set in 2018 at the Big Ten Championships.

From 2002-2006, Siebert competed for the Terps cross country and track and field teams. While competing for Maryland, she was named the cross country MVP and established top-10 times in the 800m and 1,500m events. She held the school record in the Sprint Medley relay up until the 2015-16 season along with teammates Kierra Foster, Lynn Hernandez, and Renee Clark. That record was surpassed in 2016 at the Florida relays by Lisa Meneau, Micha Powell, Catherine Voelpel, and Alex Lucki.

After graduation, Siebert maintained her involvement with the program as an intern for two years (2006-2008). During that time, she provided indispensable administrative support and served as point person for alumni relations and events. She helped to organize a successful alumni gathering when Maryland hosted the 2007 ACC Championships. The reunion featured an appearance by esteemed Coach Kehoe.

As an active member of USA Track & Field, Siebert has served on several International team staffs. Most recently, she was the head manager with Team USA at the 2024 Paris after serving as an event manager at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Her past experiences on National Team staff positions prepared her for this Olympic experience. Prior to 2020, she served as an event manager at the 2019 NACAC U23 championships in Queretaro, Mexico. In 2017 she was the head manager for the Pan Am Junior squad in Trujillo, Peru where she organized the operations of this trip for the U20 team. She went on to serve as an event manager for the 2017 World Championships in London, England.  Siebert spent the summer of 2015 as a staff member for Team USA at the World Championships in Beijing, China. Her responsibilities included athlete preparation at training camp in Narita, Japan prior to transferring to Beijing for the 2015 IAAF World Championship competition. In 2014, Siebert earned a position as a Team USA manager for the World Junior Championships hosted in Eugene, Oregon. In 2012, she served as a manager on the NACAC U23 team where she assisted athletes from Team USA throughout the competition in Irapuato, Mexico.

Siebert completed a dual graduate degree program in 2013 earning her Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Management. In addition to her coaching duties, Siebert is responsible for the maintenance of the annual budget, recruiting, planning student-athlete team travel, scheduling, organizing team community-service events and aiding in the day-to-day operations of the track and field program.

Head Coach Andrew Valmon spoke of Siebert saying, "She brings deep knowledge and understanding of our program and our direction for the future. As an alumna she is completely dedicated to the success of our student-athletes
and our teams. She is a great extension of the staff who contributes value in a variety of areas."
