Jacqueline Taylor joined the Gossett Student-Athlete Center in February 2022 as an Athletic Academic Counselor for Men’s and Women’s Track and Field, Cross Country, and Women’s Soccer. She enters her sixth school year with Maryland ahead of the 2026-27 academic year.
Before coming to Maryland, Taylor was an Academic Advisor at Georgia Southern University in the Waters College of Health Professions. Prior to Georgia Southern, she was a Coordinator of Student-Athlete Enrichment at the University of New Orleans, where she served as the Athletic Academic Counselor for women’s volleyball, women’s beach volleyball, and men’s golf, while also leading the Privateer Community Service Program for the athletic department. Taylor’s other stops include serving as a tutorial assistant, marketing assistant and lead tutor at Georgia Tech Athletics, as well as a Compliance and Academic Intern at Clayton State University Athletics.
As an active participant in the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), and Women Leaders in Sports, Taylor has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development and leadership within collegiate athletics. She participated in NCAA Emerging Leaders in 2018 and graduated from the Women Leaders Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2020 after attending the Women Leaders Symposium in 2018.
Within N4A, Taylor served as Vice Chair of the Ethnic Concerns Committee from June 2022 to June 2023, Chair from June 2023 to June 2024, and Past Chair from June 2024 to June 2025. She also participated in the Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute New Practitioner Track in November 2022 and was selected and participated in NCAA Effective Facilitation Workshop and DiSC Assessment Certified in June 2023.
Taylor has been a member of MOAA since 2019 and has served on the HBCU/LRI Committee (August 2023–Present), External Committee (August 2023–July 2025), and Professional Development Committee (August 2024–Present). She was also selected as a Rising Star participant and graduate from June 2024 to June 2025.
In addition, Taylor represented Maryland Athletics on the B1G Ten Equality Coalition from August 2023 to June 2024 as one of five department representatives selected to serve on the coalition. Through Women Leaders in Sports, she served as Co-Lead for Student-Athlete Development and Academics from December 2023 to December 2024.
Born in Ulm, Germany, while her mother was serving in the military, Taylor later lived in Fort Ord, California, before settling in Augusta, Georgia. She attended Paine College, an HBCU, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and competed as a member of the women’s volleyball team. Taylor later received her Master of Science in Sport Administration from Georgia State University.
Taylor is the proud daughter of Susan A. Taylor and the youngest of two children. Her older brother is James L. Taylor. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, shopping, working out, and trying new restaurants. She also hopes to visit Germany and Jamaica one day and is a passionate fan of the Baltimore Ravens.
