COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- - The Maryland men's soccer team (14-5) will battle No. 16 St. John's (11-5-3) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Ludwig Field. The Terps have met the Red Storm only one other time, a 2-0 win for St. John's at the Rutgers/Met Life Classic on Oct. 6, 1995.

Maryland Receives Sixth-Straight NCAA Bids
1999 marks the sixth-straight year that Maryland has received to the NCAA men's soccer tournament. The Terps had not made the NCAA field for eight years previous to receiving their bid in 1994 when current head coach Sasho Cirovski brought the Terps back to the tournament. Maryland has been invited to the NCAA Tournament 18 times in program history.

The Terps in the NCAA Tournament
The Terrapins are 18-18-2 overall in the NCAA Tournament. Maryland has gone to the Final Four six times, and were the co-national champions with Michigan State in 1968. In the last five years, Maryland is 6-5-1 in the tournament, including a Final Four run last season. Maryland has not lost a first-round game in its last six appearances, dating back to 1986. The Terps have won five straight NCAA first round match-ups and hosted three of the five.
