Dec. 11, 1999
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head coach Gary Williams
On the game: "That was a great win for us obviously, against a great team like Kentucky. When you say Kentucky -
they have it on their press guide - they're the 'team of the century,' and they're right. They've won more games and
NCAA championships than anyone, and for us to get a win against a program and a coach like Tubby Smith, who I
really respect, it was a heck of a night for us for those reason. I was really please with our team the way we came
out with no fear early in the game. We came at them like we really wanted to, and we did some decent things
defensively. Our effort was consistent and that was the thing that got us this win. We had a consistent effort all
night tonight."
On Steve Blake: "He did a great job against really good pressure, not just against his man, but in trying to complete
that first entry pass. Kentucky does a great job of trying to take you out of it, and Steve did a great job of getting the
ball there."
On Terence Morris: "He made big shots for us like he can. It's no surprise when he does it, but he also made some
great passes."
Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith
On the game: "I want to congratulate Gary [Williams] and the Maryland team. They shot the ball extremely well. In
the first half, I thought we did a good job of getting back into the game, but the turnovers tonight really hurt us. I
thought Jamal [Magloire] was outstanding, tying the school record for career blocks. We never could seem to put
together an extended run, and that's been our problem --- consistency, all year. We stepped out of bounds too
many times. We had some real breakdowns. I thought Terence Morris was outstanding, and I felt Steve Blake did a
good job as well."
