COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four Maryland women's soccer players were honored by Soccer Buzz on Thursday. Senior midfielders Jackie Mynarski (Somers, N.Y.) and Emily Janss (Brandon, Fla.) were named to the Mid-Atlantic first team. Freshman defender Lindsay Givens (Downingtown, Pa.) was named to the Mid-Atlantic third team. Givens and fellow defender Carly Viher (Mentor, Ohio) were also named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Freshman team by Soccer Buzz.

Mynarski continues to rack up the awards, as she earned NSCAA All Mid-Atlantic first team, Soccer Buzz All Mid-Atlantic first team, All-ACC second team and ACC All-Tournament honors in 1999. The senior midfielder led the Terps in scoring throughout the season, finishing with a team-high 11 goals and 24 points. She finished as the sixth all-time leading scorer with 58 points and fifth-greatest goal scorer with 24. Mynarski also ranks 10th career in assists with 10.

Janss, who had a star career at Maryland, was named to the All-ACC first team, Soccer Buzz All Mid-Atlantic first team, NSCAA All Mid-Atlantic third team and ACC All-Tournament team in 1999. During the season she picked up many honors, being named to the Soccer America Team of the Week three times and was named the ACC Player of the Week and SoccerTimes.com National Player of the Week on Oct. 19. Janss finished second on the team in goals with eight and points with 19 as a senior. After starting all 22 games as a senior, Janss played in every game during her Maryland career, 95, second in Maryland history. She also ranks ninth all-time in goals with 17 and points with 42. She served as a captain her junior and senior seasons.

An all Mid-Atlantic third team selection by Soccer Buzz and the NSCAA and Mid-Atlantic All-Freshman team by Soccer Buzz, Givens was an impact rookie for the Terps. She started all 22 games on defense and recorded five assists to finish second on the team. The freshman was four off the class record of assists. Throughout the season, Givens showed off her amazing talent on throw-ins which gave Maryland many opportunities on offense. Givens picked up her fifth assist on a perfect throw-in to Emily Janss in the box to give Maryland a 1-0 lead against Clemson in the Terps' upset win over the then-No. 9 Tigers.

A Soccer Buzz Mid-Atlantic All-Freshman team selection, Viher started all 22 games in her first year with the Terps. She helped Maryland to a 1.45 goals against average for the season. She was a vital cog in Maryland's tough defense throughout the campaign.

The Terps finished their first season under ACC Coach of the Year Shannon Higgins-Cirovski with an 11-10-1 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, in the team's fifth consecutive playoff appearance.
