MARYLAND HEAD COACH TOM BRADLEY
"It is kind of a strange feeling because we haven't been in this situation in the nine years I have been coaching. I'm not sure our players and coaches brought enough clothes with them. We're kind of in uncharted territory. I can't say enough about our players and the adversity they have gone through. They beat a very good team. I know Carolina struggled, but they still have an outstanding team. I wish them the best. I hope they get a bid and do well. We beat a very good pitcher today. He is one of the best around. I'm real happy. This is great for the six seniors on the club."
"Jamie Hammond was fantastic. He has pitched great. To have three outstanding starting performances in his last four is a real credit to him. He prepares himself well and it shows with the performances he has gotten lately."
NORTH CAROLINA HEAD COACH MIKE FOX
"We're obviously disappointed to be going two and out. We didn't expect it coming in. We certainly didn't play our best baseball here. I think the two teams we played against did. My hat is off to Georgia Tech and Maryland. I thought they played very well against us. They got timely hits and made key plays and key pitches. That is what it takes in this game. I was very proud of the way my players battled and competed. We just pressed a little bit, especially offensively. We haven't swung the bats very well during the past four or five games. I think that kind of starts to creep into your mindset. That is a hard thing to stop sometimes."
(On the NCAA Tournament) "I think we are a quality team and I hope we get a chance to prove that in about a week. I think we have competed in a very good league. We've won 40 games. How much our finish will play a factor, I really don't know. I think we are one of the best 64 teams that there is, but I'm a little biased."
