
LaChapelle and Unikel Garner Academic All-District Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland juniors Marcus LaChapelle (Severna Park, Md.) and Keith Unikel (Potomac, Md.) have been named to the 1999 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District Spring At-Large Team. Both were second team selections to the all-district team which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The at-large team comprises student-athletes from all spring sports except baseball and softball.
LaChapelle led the Maryland men's lacrosse team in assists (18) during a 9-5 season which saw the Terrapins finish No. 11 in the nation. He was third on the team in scoring (27 points) and was named the ACC Player of the Week on March 29. He boasts a 3.67 GPA in biological sciences.
Unikel was the top golfer on the No. 31 Maryland team which participated last weekend in its first NCAA Regional since 1994. He was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference and led the Terps with a 72.33 stroke average. Unikel has a 3.46 GPA in finance.
