April 5, 1999
Rallying in the final round of its third straight tournament, the Maryland golf team takes a week off before traveling to the ACC Championships in two weeks at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point. The Terps finished tied for sixth last weekend at the Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational, firing a three-under 285 on the final day to jump six places and finish among the top six of their fourth consecutive tournament this spring. Junior Keith Unikel (217, +1) matched a season-low round of 68 during the final 18 holes to jump from a 50th-place standing after two rounds and finish in 18th at one-over.

MORE ON AUGUSTA
For the third straight tournament, Maryland (873, +9) made up ground to move upward at least three places on
the final day of a 54-hole tournament. Maryland's 285 on Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club marked the second
straight tournament in which the Terrapins fired the best round of the final day.
Likewise, Unikel's 68 was the lowest individual round of Sunday's play, joining three other Terps at one-over or better. Seniors Mike Deo (218, +2) and Pete Coughlin (218, +2) continued their steady play with par 72 on the final 18 to finish one stroke behind Unikel. Fellow senior Miguel Rivera (220, +4) shot a 73 on the final day after firing his first par round of the spring, 72, during the second 18 holes on Saturday.
