COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Freshman forward Deedee Warley and senior center Branka Bogunovic each had double-double performances in Maryland's 86-62 win Wednesday night over Morgan State, but it was Tiffany Brown's school record 18 assists that stole the show.
Brown riddled the Bears' transition defense while distributing to Warley and Bogunovic one possession after another. Brown scored four points and added three steals while playing all 40 minutes and breaking the old mark of 17 assists established by Tara Heiss (2-28-78) and Debbie Lytle (1-23-80).
Warley, who scored 23 of her career-high 31 points in the second half, helped Maryland outscore the Bears 55-35 after clutching to a 31-27 lead at the intermission. Brown showcased 12 of her record assists during the second period which saw the Terrapins outscore Morgan State 20-4 over a six-minute stretch. Warley scored 16 of the Terps' 20 in the stretch which included a pair of 10-0 runs.
Maryland (4-16) shot 58 percent during the second half while outscoring the Bears 48-20 inside the paint. Morgan State (6-13) shot just 31 percent from the floor as Maryland blew the game open for its largest victory margin of the season.
Warley shot 12 of 17 from the floor and added a career-high with 10 rebounds, while Bogunovic recorded her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 21 points and adding a game-high 12 boards.
