ADELPHI
Head Coach Sandy Kapatos on loss of Division II Player of the Year Anthony Piccone, who was suspended prior to the start of the season: "Someone very important to our program was taken away from us very early and it took us some time to find some personality, and to find ourselves. And to (the players') credit, they did that and eventually overcame several obstacles to become national champions for the second time in consecutive years. I'm very proud of these young men."
On 5-0 run in the second half: "That run in that time frame was big."
On goalie Greg Kulesa: "I thought Kulesa stepped up real big in the goal. He started out a little bit slow, (but) I think he was a rock the rest of the way through."
On second-half performance: "We like to think we work as hard or harder as anybody else in the country. And I think that pays off in the second half."
Brian Tower on the 5-0 run: "Basically we got away from our team offense. We seemed to be going just 1-on-1. And then (Coach Kapatos) told us to start getting everyone involved and it started clicking from there on. We started passing the ball around and everything got rolling."
Most outstanding player Anthony Saccone: "Coach had a lot of confidence in me. I just did my best to go against anyone I had. Usually I just take my guy behind me. If I can beat him, I can beat him."
C.W. Post
Head Coach Tom Postel: "I thought the majority of the game we played well. I thought we got caught in unsettled (situations) a few times and that hurt us big time."
"I'm certainly not happy that we didn't win. We thought we could win this ballgame. They made the big plays when they had to make them."
On Adelphi's Anthony Saccone: "We needed a tank to stop him sometimes today. For some reason, you don't see the body (checks) in the game of lacrosse because it seems like every time somebody (body checks), they get called for above the shoulders. He's a force. He hold the ball in (close to his chest), he spins on you. The kid's just a pretty strong kid."
Defenseman Dave Kelly on inability of the C.W. Post offense to score more: "It's very frustrating for the defense because if the offense doesn't put the ball in (the goal) and doesn't possess the ball, then we're playing more defense. And it just puts more stress on us to keep them from scoring. We just basically need to possess the ball."
