MERCEDES BENZ INVITATIONAL: The Terps opened the 1998 season at the Mercedes Benz Invitational, hosted by the University of North Florida Feb. 21-24. Maryland finished in 13th place out of 18 teams with a total score of 892 strokes, 43 behind first place South Carolina. Individually, Miguel Rivera led the Terps, finishing in a tie for 31st place.

STAYING IN THE SUNSHINE STATE: The Terps play their first two matches of the season in Florida. After the Mercedes Benz Invitational at the University of North Florida, the Terps return to the sunshine state for the Seminole Classic at the Killearn City Country Club in Tallahassee, Fla., March 10-11.
1998 SEMINOLE CLASSIC: The Terps will compete in the 1998 Seminole Classic this Tuesday and Wednesday. The tournament, hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, gets underway Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The two-day, 54 hole tournament concludes with the final round on Wednesday. Last year the team champion was North Florida, and the individual champion was Lewis Chitengwa of Virginia.
YOUNG, BUT EXPERIENCED: The Terps' 1998 roster is made up of one senior, Pete Coughlin. However, there are three juniors, three sophomores, and one freshman.
FROM ALL OVER: The Terps' roster also consists of golfers from several different states. Four are from Maryland, three from Pennsylvania, and one each from New Jersey, Maine, and Ohio.
