COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior defender Abby Bausman (Glen Arm, Md.) and senior forward Keri Sarver (Massillon, Ohio) of the University of Maryland have been named to the Soccer America women's team of the week for their performances last week in leading the Terps to an unbeaten 2-0-1 record. Maryland defeated James Madison, 1-0 and No. 17 Virginia, 3-2 OT, and tied fourth-ranked Connecticut, 2-2 OT, for the week ending Oct. 11.
Bausman earned the award for her defensive performances in all three games and her offensive performance against James Madison. Defensively, she helped limit Virginia and Connecticut below their season scoring averages. Against James Madison, Bausman was credited with an assist on the game-winning goal by Sarver.
Saver continued her high-octane offensive output last week as she scored three goals and added one assist. She scored the game-winners against both JMU and Virginia. Her game-winning goal against Virginia came in overtime and allowed Maryland to defeat Virginia for the first time in school history.
Maryland has won seven of its last nine games (7-1-1) since Sept. 18 and has reentered the national rankings. The Terps are ranked No.14 in the nation by Soccer America.
The Terps play host to No. 15 William & Mary Friday night at 7 p.m. and Florida State Sunday at 2 p.m.
