COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland sophomore attack Jen Adams (Brighton, Australia) scored a career-high six goals and added three assists to lead the top-ranked Terrapins (11-0) to a 21-2 win against the Towson Tigers (3-7) Wednesday afternoon at Ludwig Field.
Maryland junior Christie Jenkins (Media, Pa.) put the Terps on the board early as she was fed a cross pass from junior Kristin Sommar (North Wales, Pa.) at the 2:41 mark. Jenkins would net two more goals in the first half. Sommar posted a career-high five goals, including four consecutive within a four-minute period in the first half. She also connected on two assists.
Maryland controlled a 16-0 lead in the first half, including five goals by Adams. Junior Tracie Millon also scored two goals in the first half to mark a career-high.
The Tigers would net their two goals late in the second half as Portia Gotwalt would score the Tigers' first goal at the 56:30 mark and Nicki Popolano followed up two minutes later to post the game's final goal.
Towson goalkeeper Jacquie Sica totaled 18 saves, while Maryland's Alex Kahoe totaled three. Today's game also marked the debut performance of sophomore goalkeeper Fon Muttamara who played four minutes.
Maryland travels to Harvard on Sunday, April 11, for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Crimson.
