Maryland Women's Lacrosse Adds Clemson Transfer Kira Balis

Balis arrives in College Park after spending the past two seasons at Clemson, where she was a starter in every game. Entering her sophomore season, she was ranked No. 39 on Inside Lacrosse's list of the top players heading into the 2026 season.
In 2026, Balis started all 21 games and set a new Clemson program record for career draw controls with her 184th draw control against No. 21 Virginia. She finished the season with 139 draw controls, bringing her career total to a program-record 287.
As a freshman in 2025, Balis earned IWLCA All-South Region Second Team and All-ACC Third Team honors. She was also named Inside Lacrosse's No. 12 Impact Freshman and earned Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Honorable Mention recognition. Balis finished her freshman campaign with the second-most draw controls by a freshman in Division I and the second-highest total by any ACC player.
