Kori Edmondson, Acacia Walker-Weinstein to Represent Team USA at 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Former Terps Kori Edmondson and Acacia Walker-Weinstein will represent Maryland on the international stage as members of Team USA at the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
Formerly known as the Women's Lacrosse World Cup, the World Lacrosse Women's Championship is the premier international championship for women's lacrosse and is held every four years.
Edmondson leaves College Park as one of the most decorated players in Maryland history. The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, she chose to stay home and blossomed into one of the premier players ever to wear a Terrapin uniform. She finished her career ranked 26th in program history with 220 career points and tied for 12th all-time with 187 goals. Edmondson also became just the third player in program history to earn four All-Big Ten honors.
Walker-Weinstein, was an All-American and team captain for the Terrapins, helping lead the program to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances during her collegiate career. She was a member of the U.S. Women's Senior National Team for a decade (2002–12) and won two world championships with Team USA. In April 2024, Walker-Weinstein was named head coach of the U.S. Women's Senior National Team.
The United States enters the tournament seeking a record-setting fifth consecutive World Lacrosse Women's Championship title. Team USA captured world championships in 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022, matching its previous streak of four straight titles from 1989 to 2001. Australia defeated the United States in the 2005 championship in Annapolis, Maryland, marking the last time Team USA did not win the world title.
The United States opens pool play this weekend against Ireland before facing the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Chinese Taipei. The quarterfinals begin July 29, with the championship game scheduled for Aug. 2.
