BOULDER, Colo. - The No. 12/8 University of Colorado volleyball team swept the University of Maryland tonight to give the Buffaloes their third consecutive home victory. The 15-12, 15-4, 15-10 win puts the Buffs at 6-1 on the season, while the Terps slide to 5-4.

"I felt better about what we did tonight than what we have done in the past few games," Colorado head coach Pi'i Aiu said. "We worked harder and played better, and are trying to get closer to where we were last year. This match helped us get ready for the Big 12."

Maryland was led by junior outside Beth Murphy, a native of nearby Golden, Colo., who had a match-high 12 kills and added six digs and a block. Sophomore Katie Jentes and freshman (and also Colorado native) Katie Cramer each had seven kills for the terps.

Irregular serving trends set the scene for the entire match. In game one, CU senior Melissa Schutz helped her team to gain momentum when she led them on a nine point scoring streak. The Buffs finished the match with nine service aces paired with nine service errors, while the Terrapins went home with two service aces and eight service errors.

CU junior middle blocker Shana Bowen came off the bench to contribute seven kills on eight attacks to give her a .875 hitting percentage.

"We are playing pretty well right now," Bowen said. "We have to keep the intensity high in practices, so we can play well in our matches."

Seniors Tegan Lynch and Sarah Lodge along with junior Kristin Dorsch also contributed greatly to CU's offensive effort. They pocketed eight, nine, and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter Kelly Campbell surfaced defensively with 10 digs, while Lynch and Lodge followed close behind with seven apiece.
