COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Gillian Cote, a freshman from Fredericksburg, Va., has been named the first East Atlantic Gymnastics League Gymnast of the Week for 1999, the league office announced.

Cote tied the school record in the all-around with a 39.15 score as she led the Terrapins to a season- opening win over Radford with an impressive 192.375 team score. Cote finished first in the vault (9.8), bars (9.725) and beam (9.95). She set a Maryland record with her 9.95 score on the balance beam. In addition, her 9.80 in the vault is the second highest vault score in school history. Maryland's 192.375 team score was the highest season- opening score in school history.
