TEMPE, Ariz. - University of Maryland went 1-1 against Top 25 teams on Saturday, defeating 19th-ranked Alabama 3-2 in eight innings before falling 11-0 to No. 2-ranked Arizona.
The Terps were scheduled to face South Carolina later Saturday. Maryland took an overall record of 4-5 into the game against the Gamecocks.
Maryland's win against Alabama was the second victory of the season for the Terps against a Top 25 team. This past Sunday, Maryland defeated sixth-ranked University of South Florida. The Terps are slated to concluded participation in the Fiesta Bowl Tournament here Sunday, when they face Utah and Georgia.
