COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior golfer Keith Unikel (Potomac, Md.) of Maryland has been named among 13 golfers honored on the 1999 All-Atlantic Coast Conference men's golf team.
Unikel, whose 72.33 stroke average leads the Terrapins as they await formal announcement on Tuesday of their selection to the NCAA East Regional, is the first Maryland player selected to the All-ACC Team since All-American Del Ponchock was named in 1994. A bid to the NCAA Golf Championships would also be Maryland's first since 1994, and only the second since 1976.
Unikel has led the Terps to a top six finish or better in every tournament this spring, and is currently ranked the No. 48 individual golfer in the nation according to weekly Golfstat rankings. He has had five top 10 finishes himself, and three top five finishes.
Maryland is currently No. 30 in MasterCard/College Golf Foundation rankings, No. 32 by Golfstat and No. 37 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings.
