COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Fawna Lackovic recorded a season-high four RBI and senior Kelly Shipman won her second game in two days to lead Maryland to an 8-0 victory over Georgia Tech at the North Fields Softball Complex. The victory was the 34th of the season for the Terps establishing a school-record for wins in a season.
Maryland's record is now 34-18-0 and 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Georgia Tech falls to 19-23-0 and 0-4 in the ACC. The game was called with no outs in the bottom of the fifth when Maryland took an 8-0 lead and the NCAA college softball eight-run rule went into effect.
Lackovic had two RBI in the both the third and fourth innings and was a perfect two-for-two on the day with a sacrifice bunt. She smacked a single to left in the third to score sophomores Michelle Burrell and Jennifer Potzman. Lackovic then lined a single to center to score junior Cortney Madea and freshman Kiesha Pickeral in the fourth inning.
