The Terps outhit MSU 13-6 in Friday’s nine-inning clash.

EAST LANSING, MI — The Terps outhit Michigan State 13-6 in Friday's series opener, but the Spartans outlasted Maryland 4-3 in nine innings to drop the Terps to 17-29 (3-19 Big Ten) in 2026.

Trailing by two and down to their last out in the seventh, the Terps turned to Anna McGowan, who tied the game with a two-RBI single for her third hit of the contest before MSU eventually earned the walkoff win in the ninth inning.

Four different Terps logged multi-hit games on Friday night as Maryland collected 13 hits from seven players. Sammi Woods and McGowan both recorded three-hit nights while Mariah Penta and Matti Benson each collected a pair.

Caitlin Olensky got the start in the circle for the Terps on Friday night. The only hit she allowed in her three innings of work was a solo home run. She collected five strikeouts before Caroline Fox tied the game for Maryland with a sacrifice-fly.

Elisea Wiegand tossed the next three innings of Friday's contest. She held the Spartans to two runs on four hits before McGowan tied the game and a scoreless inning from Keira Bucher forced extra innings.

T7: Maryland loaded the bases to put the tying and go-ahead runners on base.
