Terps Earn Fourth Consecutive NCAA Tourney Bid

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland womens soccer team will play host this Wednesday to Fairfield University in the first round of the 1998 NCAA Womens Soccer Tournament. The Terps are making their school-record fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Terps were chosen as an at-large selection after finishing in fifth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Maryland, which won 10 games this season and averages nearly 15 wins a season in the last four years, enters the NCAA Tournament with a 10-10-1 record. The Terps finished with a 3-4 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference. During the course of the season, the Terps defeated three ranked teams and played 11 teams which received invitations to the NCAA Tournament.

SARVER SETS SCHOOL RECORDS FOR GOALS, ASSISTS AND TOTAL POINTS
Senior Keri Sarver (Massillon, Ohio), one of the top players in school history, enters the NCAA Tournament as the program leader in eight different offensive categories including career goals (58), career assists (33) and career total points (149). She enjoyed her top career goal scoring year (18) and nearly tied her single season career high for total points (43) in 1998.

FIVE TERPS EARN ALL-ACC HONORS
Senior forward Keri Sarver and senior defender Abby Bausman (Glen Arm, Md.) were named to the first team All-ACC womens soccer team as announced by the conference office. In addition, senior forward Emmy Harbo (Baton Rouge, La.), junior defender Emily Janss (Brandon, Fla.) and sophomore goalkeeper Riki-Ann Serrins (Mission Viejo, Calif.) earned second team all-conference honors.

TERPS SENIOR CLASS IS WINNINGEST IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Marylands senior class of Emmy Harbo (Baton Rouge, La.), Keri Sarver, midfielders Robin McCullough (Covington, Ga.) and Wendy Baldwin (Olney, Md.) and defenders Abby Bausman, Marybeth Egan (Salem, Mass.) and Laura Varela (Aurora, Colo.) is the all-time winningest senior class in school history. Over the course of the last four years, Maryland has a record of 59-30-6 for a winning percentage of 65.2. The senior class played in three NCAA Tournaments, two ACC Tournament championship final games and set a school record for victories in a single season (19) in 1996.

SARVER, HARBO CONTINUE TO RANK AMONG ACCS TOP 10
Keri Sarver and Emmy Harbo enter the NCAA Tournament ranked in the top 10 in scoring in ACC history. Sarver scored one goal in the ACC Tournament to move her career point total to 149. Sarver is ranked seventh in conference history while Harbo has totaled 138 total points to rank ninth.
