Maryland coach Gary Williams:

I've always felt the game had to be played inside out. We tried to play it outside in tonight. In other words our first looks were from the perimeter. It was fine as long as we made our shots. We were 7-13 in the first half in the first half from the 3-point line, which is great. But it caught up with us when we cooled off in the 2nd half and we shot 3-14. That's why you have to be able to get the ball inside like Carolina did tonight.

Their inside game hurt us. We relied on our outside shooting and that's not us usually. We paid the price for it.

It was a great atmosphere, with the students down on the court tonight. It was a lot of fun out there. There were even a couple of people yelling at me. That hasn't happened here before. It's great for the students. They felt a part of things. I think it's a great experience to play in an atmosphere like this.

I think their zone was good, but we settled for too many outside shots early.

We've been up and down as a team. We're learning. But we've played 19 games now and we should be more consistent than we were in the 2nd half.
