RICHMOND, VA. - In game shortened to seven innings due to a thunderstorm, Virginia Commonwealth (15-6) defeated Maryland (3-10) 15-2 in baseball action on Saturday at The Diamond. The game marked the second game of a three-game series between the two schools.

Brian Mohr got the Rams on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when he lined a one-out, two-run double off the wall in center field. The Rams then sent 12 men to the plate in the bottom of the second inning and tacked on six more runs, extending the lead to 8-0.

Maryland got a run back in the top of the third inning when Frank Valois scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt Swope. In the bottom of the fourth inning, however, the Rams took advantage of an error and a passed ball to plate five more runs and pad the lead to 13-1.

With the score at 15-2 in the middle of the seventh inning, the game was made final when a thunderstorm came rolling in to Richmond.

The two schools conclude their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

TERP NOTES: Kevin McDonald tied a career-high with three hits ... Jason Mohap has now hit safely in a career-high nine games.
