
Maryland Baseball Team Defeats Marist 4-3

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Senior left-hander Jamie Hammond allowed just three runs over 7.1 innings and junior outfielder Brian Patenaude hit a two-run home run, propelling Maryland (3-5) to a 4-3 win over Marist (1-1) in baseball action at Shipley Field on Saturday. With the win, the Terps have now won three of their past four games.
Patenaude gave the Terps a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run home run to left field. It was his first home run of the season.
Marist got a run back when Anthony Bocchino scored on throwing error in the top of the fourth inning. The Red Foxes then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Ryan Brady and Anthony Bocchino.
Maryland took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Craig Munroe scored on a sacrifice fly by Steve Oursler. Jason Mohap then scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball.
Junior right-hander Mark Martin pitched the final 1.2 innings to collect his first career save.
Maryland hosts Cleveland State Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
