
Maryland Sweeps Baseball Doubleheader From Howard

The University of Maryland baseball team swept a doubleheader from Howard on Tuesday at Shipley Field. The Terps won the first game 10-3 and the nightcap 18-2.
In the first game, senior second baseman Jason Mohap and junior third baseman Steve Oursler each went 3-for-4 with three RBI, leading Maryland to the win. Senior designated hitter Craig Munroe went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and junior left fielder Brain Patenaude drilled a double, extending his career-high hitting streak to 16 games.
Freshman righthander Steve Schmoll (3-1) got the win while junior righthander Dwight Fortune (1-2) took the loss.
In the second game, Munroe went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run and four RBI. Oursler went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Patneaude, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games, went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of RBI.
Freshman righthander Matt Basinger (2-1) got the win while sophomore righthander Deshawn Gill (0-2) took the loss.
Maryland is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts George Mason at 3 p.m.
TERP NOTES: Oursler now has a career-high, 12-game hitting streak.
