COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Junior left fielder Brian Patenaude went 2-for-3, scored a run and drew a pair of walks, leading Maryland (13-22) to a 5-4 win over George Mason (15-20-1) in baseball action on Wednesday at Shipley Field. Patenaude got the Terps on the board when he doubled to lead off the bottom of the first inning and then scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Terps extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning when senior second baseman Jason Mohap scored on a throwing error. George Mason got a run back in the top of the sixth inning when junior right fielder Derek Morrison doubled home junior designated hitter Brad Santmeyer.

Senior first baseman Craig Munroe scored on a double play in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Maryland a 3-1 lead.

George Mason tied the game up in the top of the eighth inning. Junior left fielder Scott Yeager led off the inning with a solo home run to left field and sophomore catcher Brian Anderson scored on a fielder's choice.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Patenaude drew a walk to send home a run and on the next play, Mohap scored on a fielding error.

Maryland starting pitcher Jamie Hammond pitched five scoreless innings. Freshman righthander Mike Dallmeyer (1-1) picked up the win and junior righthander Jared Vogt recorded his second save of the season. Freshman righthander Chris Murray (1-1) took the loss.

Maryland travels to North Carolina for a three-game series against the Tar Heels. The first game is Friday at 7 p.m. George Mason hosts William & Mary this weekend, starting Friday at 3 p.m.
