Maryland Sweeps Baseball Doubleheader From UMES 11-0 and 13-1

The University of Maryland baseball team (15-25) swept a doubleheader from Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-45) on Wednesday at Shipley Field. The Terps won the first game 11-0 and took the nightcap 13-1. Both games were seven innings.
In the first game, Matt Swope and Steve Oursler each hit their first home run of the season. Swope went 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI.
Larry Long stole his 60th and 61st career bases in the first game. That breaks the all-time school record of 59 career steals set by former Terp Todd Nutter (1990-93).
In the nightcap, Craig Munroe hit two home runs for the first time in his career and had five RBI. Steve Oursler and Daryl Whitmer each added two doubles.
Matt Basinger (3-1) got the win in game one while Bruce Berry (0-9) took the loss. In the nightcap Jared Stuart (2-0) got the win while Nick Pallone (0-10) got tagged with the loss.
Maryland now travels to Wake Forest for a three-game ACC series starting Friday at 3 p.m.
