BALTIMORE, Md. -
Former Maryland Terrapins All-American Emily Janss was named the Women's League Player of the Week and named to league's Team of the Week after leading the Maryland Pride to a stunning 1-0 win over previously undefeated Long Island last Saturday, June 25.
Janss played all 90 minutes organizing the Pride defense as Maryland contained the W-League 1's most potent offense. League-leading scorer Margaret
Tietjen was held scoreless for the first time in four games and kept to just four shots.
The Pride's Colette Cunningham scored in injury time of the first half to hand the Lady Riders their first loss of the season. Terp senior captain Ali Wolff
made six saves in route to the shutout for the Pride.
Maryland enters the weekend with a record of 4-3-1 as it heads to Florida for its first ever meetings with the Jacksonville Jade and Tampa Bay Extreme on
July 1 and 2, respectively.
Joining Janss on the travel roster to Florida are former Terps Emmy Harbo, Robin McCullough, Jackie Mynarski, Keri Sarver and Tania Sheremeta.
