NORMAL, Ill. - The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) named 344 women gymnasts to the 1999-2000 Scholastic All-American team on Friday, August 25. Out of the 344, junior Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.), junior Kit Johnson (Virginia Beach, Va.), graduated senior Elize Burke (Bowdoinham, Maine), junior Alyssa Mealey (Bensalem, Pa.), senior Karyn Fein (Charlotte, N.C.), and graduated senior Shelly Hernandez (Silver Spring, Md.) of Maryland's 1999-2000 team were recognized. All of those honored had a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Cote and Johnson were within the top 25 highest GPAs, both having a 4.0. Of the six gymnasts, Cote, Johnson and Mealey are returning for the 2000-2001 season, which begins at Denver on Jan. 13.
