Maryland vs. Delaware State: Postgame Quotes

Nov. 24, 2001

Recap| Box Score| Photo Gallery

Maryland Head Coach Gary Williams
On Delaware State's strategy:
"They did a good job of coming in with a game plan and stuck to it the whole game."

On Maryland's mind set headed into the match-up:
"This was a tough time for us to play, obviously with the students not here. We went out there and did enough just to win the game, but we have the type of team that will be ready to play on Tuesday night."

On the play of Chris Wilcox:
"How active [Chris Wilcox] gets determines how well he plays, because he can do some sensational things out there. In the second half I thought he was really active and he was our best player in that half."

On the progress of the Maryland offense:
"We are very close to having a good offensive team. We have to make our free throws and finish when the opportunities are there."

Delaware State Head Coach Greg Jackson
On the Delaware State program:
"Our kids wanted to compete. They played hard, and showed a lot of character. We're trying to take the Delaware State program to the national level, and we need to play games like this."

On the Maryland offense:
"They do a lot to try to get the ball inside. They have great big people. We pretty much contained their guards but as a whole their team is solid."

On Maryland head coach Gary Williams:
"Gary Williams is one of the best coaches in the country, and one of the best coaches I've ever coached against in college basketball. I have a great deal of respect for him and his program."
