Fisher Earns Second Consecutive 10.0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior co-captain Jill Fisher earned the first East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) championships score of 10.0 on the floor exercise as the University of Maryland women's gymnastics team placed second with a team score of 195.875 Saturday night. Final team standings were West Virginia in first with a 196.375, Towson in third with a 194.600, New Hampshire in fourth with a 194.375, host North Carolina in fifth with a 193.325, NC State in sixth with a 193.275, Rutgers in seventh with a 191.825 and Pittsburgh in eighth with a 191.025.
Junior co-captain Gillian Cote scored a 9.925 on the uneven bars to tie with West Virginia's Jaime Hill for first place. Cote also placed fourth on the floor exercise with a 9.9 and sixth on the balance beam with a 9.825.
West Virginia's TeShawne Jacskon became the sceond gymnasts to earn a 10.0 at the EAGL championships when she won vault with a perfect score. Jackson also placed first in the all-around with a 39.375, just in front of Cote who placed second with a 39.350. Fisher tied with West Virginia's Dinorh Boyd for third in the all-around with a 39.275.
Maryland (16-8, 9-3 EAGL) now waits to find out if it qualifies for the NCAA Regional meet.
