COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Major League Lacrosse launched its inaugural season earlier this month. Playing among its six charter teams are ten former Terrapins: Jason Carrier, Casey Connor, Brian Dougherty, Todd Evans, Kip Fulks, Scott Hochstadt, Pat McGinnis, Dan Radebaugh, Brian Reese, and Andrew Whipple.
Kip Fulks ('96), a 1995 All-American and two time All-ACC selection plays midfield for the Baltimore Bayhawks.
Also on the Bayhawks roster is defender Brian Reese ('98), who contributed in three NCAA championship games in the mid 90s. Reese has also spent the last few years in the National Lacrosse League indoors playing for the Washington Power, Pittsburgh Crossfire and Baltimore Thunder.
A member of those same teams, attackman Todd Evans ('98), joins fellow Terp alumnus Dan Radebaugh ('96) on the Boston Cannons.
Radebaugh, a 1995 All-American, won the Schmeisser Cup for the nation's outstanding defender that same year and All-ACC honors twice.
All-American Scott Hochstadt ('00), fifth all-time goal scorer for the Terrapins and the 1998 ACC Tournament MVP, will now be netting goals for the Bridgeport Barrage.
Preventing goals against the Barrage will be first team All-American and two-time All-ACC goalie Pat McGinnis ('01), the MLL's only representative from Maryland's most recent team.
The Rochester Rattlers are enlisting three former Maryland lacrosse players: Brian Dougherty ('97), twice named the Nation's Outstanding Goaltender as well as All-American, and winner of the 1995 Lt. Raymond Enners Memorial Award for the nation's outstanding player, All-American Andrew Whipple ('98), who led the Terps in assists three consecutive seasons and in points two seasons (8th all-time), and All-American defender Casey Connor ('00).
Maryland's last contribution to the MLL is Jason Carrier ('00) of the New Jersey Pride, a solid defender who helped the Terps become national finalists twice during his college career.
