Former Maryland Stars Lead WUSA Teams Into Playoffs

Former Maryland women's soccer stars Michelle Demko and Emily Janss lead their teams into action in the inaugural WUSA playoffs this Saturday.

Janss leads the New York Power in the first semifinal against the Bay Area CyberRays at 4:30 p.m. ET. Janss has played in 16 games this season for the Power (9-7-5) starting the final six of the year. She has one goal and two assists for four points.

Demko and the Philadelphia Charge will take on the first-place Atlanta Beat in the second semifinal at 6:45 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Charge went 9-8-4 this season as Demko played in 16 matches. She scored two goals and added an assist for five points.

Both playoff games will be televised on TNT.

The first-ever WUSA title game pitting Saturday's winners will take place at Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts on Saturday, Aug. 25.
