
Men's Soccer Nets 3-0 Win Over Georgetown

Washington, D.C. - The University of Maryland men's soccer team began the 2001 season with a 3-0 win over Georgetown in the teams' first exhibition game Sunday. Maryland scored a goal in each of the three 30 minute periods.
Redshirt-sophomore Scott Buete (Bowie, Md./Bowie) scored the first goal at the six minute mark, feeding off an assist from freshman Michael Dello-Russo (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and redshirt-sophomore A.J. Herrera (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X). Redshirt-sophomore Siba Mohammed (Tamale, Ghana/The Walden School) netted the second goal off an assist from redshirt-sophomore Sumed Ibrahim (Talame, Ghana/The Walden School) at 34:00. Sumed Ibrahim scored the third and final goal for the Terps and Siba Mohammed had the assist in the 67th minute.
Maryland plays its final exhibition game of the 2001 season Friday, August 24 against Richmond. The Terps will face the Spiders at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md.
