* The Terrapin women won 191-162 over Pittsburgh and 203-149 over Villanova while the Terrapin men won 233-101 over Villanova, but lost to No. 18 Pittsburgh 265-87.
* Bridget Mallon had a spectacular meet for the Terrapins as she had a part in winning five events. Mallon won both butterfly events by capturing top honors in the 100-fly (56.59) and the 200-fly (2:04.87). The junior also swam on three winning relays for the Terps. Mallon was part of the first-place 200-free relay, 400-medley relay and the 400-free relay for Maryland.
* Other winners for the Maryland women included seniors Kelly Bowman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and Petra Adamkova (Nachod, Czech Rep.). Bowman won three events including the 100-free (52.41) along with swimming on the winning 200-free relay and the 400-free relay.

Terps Ranked Among The ACC Leaders
* Several members of the Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving teams are ranked among the ACC leaders. Three men's swimmers have times in the top five while five women have turned in top-five performances this season.

* For the women, freshman Elizabeth Lavell (Annapolis, Md.) leads the Terps with four times in the top five in the 1650-free (16:23.56, first), 400-IM (4:16.43/first), 1000-free (9:56.24, fourth) and the 200-IM (2:02.68, third).

Freshman Sensation
* It has not taken long for Elizabeth Lavell to put her name in the Maryland record books. The rookie swimmer from Annapolis has been a standout for the Terps as she has set four school records after the first half of the year and has also been one of the top swimmers in the ACC.
* Lavell has broken four school records already in the 200-IM (2:02.68), 400-IM (4:16.43), 1000-free (9:56.24) and the 1650-free (16:23.56).
* When Lavell has set those records, she has shattered the old marks. In the 1650-free, Lavell broke the old school record held by senior Jenna Hough (Pittsburgh, Pa.) by over 25 seconds. In the 1000-free, Lavell broke a record that stood since 1986 by Laurie Hug by more than 10 seconds.
* Lavell has already qualified for the NCAA Championships with her "A" standard time of 16:23.56 in the 1650-free for top honors at the Terrapin Cup Invitational. She has also turned in an "A" standard time of 4:16.43 in the 400-IM a day earlier at the Terrapin Cup. For her efforts at the Terrapin Cup, Lavell was one of six swimmers named National Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.
* In the ACC rankings, Lavell is ranked in the top three in four different events. Lavell owns the ACC's best times in both the 1650-free and the 400-IM while ranking fourth in the 1000-free and third in the 200-IM.
Mallon Making Her Mark
* As impressive as Lavell has been for the Terrapin women, Bridget Mallon has continued to be one of the ACC's best in the butterfly events. The school record holder in both the 100- and 200-fly, Mallon has been the Terps' leader in those two events ever since she arrived on campus.
* Mallon has the fastest time in the conference this season with her time of 55.01 in the 100-fly. In the 200-fly, Mallon ranks third with a time of 2:01.22.
* In her last meet at Pittsburgh vs. the host Panthers and Villanova, Mallon was part of five winning events for the Terps. Mallon captured first in the 100-fly, 200-fly, 200-free relay, 400-medley relay and the 400-free relay for Maryland.
