
Glover Paces Terps at NCAAs Saturday

AUBURN, Ala. - Senior Ginny Glover capped her illustrious career with a school-record finish in the 200 back Saturday at the 2012 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Glover finished 16th in the preliminaries and broke her previous school record in the 200 free (1:54.64). The Ellicott City, Md., product took 15th in the finals to give Maryland its top individual finish of the meet.
Megan Lafferty tallied her third top-25 finish, touching the wall 25th (48.93) in the 100 free. Carolyn Fittin was 59th (50.50) in the same event.
Jennifer Roberts finished 39th in the 200 fly (1:59.96). The 400 free relay was disqualified in prelim action.
"It was an honor to go to the NCAA Championships with Megan, Carolyn, Jenni and Ginny," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "We had some great performances.
"Over the past three seasons, Maryland is one of only 10 other teams in all of Division I Swimming & Diving to have scored the 200 free relay at the NCAA Championships for three years running. That is something I and these women are very proud of."
The Terps finished 36th in the overall team standings.
