Maryland Tennis Loses To Ohio State, 4-3

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The women's tennis team fell to Ohio State, in a 4-3 decision Friday, in the first of its two weekend matches. Ohio State improves to a flawless 7-0 and Maryland drops to .500, with a 2-2 record. On Saturday, the Terps take on the Kansas Jayhawks at the Jesse Owens West tennis courts, in Columbus, Ohio.
Maryland's top seed, Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) lost to Ohio State's Monica Rincon, 6-4, 7-5. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) defeated Erica Fisk, 7-5, 6-3. Buckeye Sadhaf Pervez eliminated senior Pamela Floro (Manila Philippines) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Junior Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) notched a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ohio State's Michelle Matko and freshman Emily DeCamilla (Sacramento, Calif.) also won in a 7-5, 3-6, (10-4) battle. Sophomore Chloe Chavardes fell to Lindsay Williams, 6-4, 6-4.
The doubles team of Causevic and Marker improves to 4-0 on the season, defeating Meaghan Colville and Rincon, 8-4. However, the other two Terps doubles teams lost, Jedrzejak and DeCamilla lost to Fisk and Pervez by the score of 8-1 and Chavardes and Floro were ousted, 8-4, by Matko and Williams.
