Women's Tennis Team Sweeps Dartmouth

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The women's tennis team swept Dartmouth, 7-0, at the Tennis Center at College Park. Maryland improves its record to 4-2, handing the Big Green their first loss of the spring season.
All three doubles teams recorded wins against Dartmouth. No. 2 doubles team of junior Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) and freshman Emily DeCamilla (Sacramento, Calif.) eliminated Arden Fredeking and Catherine Crandall, 8-2. Junior Delila Causevic (Sarajevo, Bosnia) and sophomore Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) clinched the first point for Maryland with an 8-3 win over Sarita Yardi and Carly Bashleben. The team of Yardi and Bashleben was undefeated in spring play, prior to today's doubles loss to Causevic and Marker. Senior Pamela Floro (Manila, Philippines) and sophomore Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabreteche, France) defeated Lisa Borowsky and Jayme Ahmed, 8-6 in the third match.
On the singles end, five Terps notched straight set wins over their Big Green opponents. The top two singles players, Causevic and Marker, won their respective matches, 7-6, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-1, respectively. At the No. 3 singles position, Floro defeated Fredeking, 7-6, 6-3. Chavardes posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Crandall and DeCamilla defeated Sarah McNally, 6-0, 6-1. Jedrzejak and Ahmed's match lasted the longest with both the players splitting the first two sets. Jedrzejak went on to win the deciding set, 7-5.
Maryland will conclude February competition against George Washington at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 in Washington, D.C. The Terps return home on Mar. 1 at 2:30 p.m., to host the University of Pennsylvania.
